Glass furniture – an elegant option. Glass has been a material used for making furniture since forever, but, as the years passed, the colors, finishes and shapes have changed. Whether it’s translucent, frosted, has colored motifs or it is plain, glass brings a certain beauty to the items it’s part of. It gives a sense of spaciousness and elegance, while creating a bright and fluid environment. Obviously, there are some disadvantages as well: it’s pricey and pretty difficult to maintain.
If, however, you decided to include some glass elements into or among your pieces of furniture, here are some recommendations:
- For the living, a divider screen separating the seating from the kitchen. It can be either colored or frosted, with simple geometric models and without excessive frills. You can also opt for a coffee table or shelves created using the same material. You should take into consideration that when you have decided on a glass element (e.g. the coffee table), it is imperative to add a second one somewhere else for balance (a vase, a frame, a lamp). Also viable options are the some glass doors for your bookcase or a glass sliding access door.
- In the bedroom, you can choose to install translucent glass doors on your dresser. They will give a sense of fluidity and brightness.
- The glass in the bathroom is pretty difficult to maintain, as water drops leave unaesthetic specks. However, you could install a few glass shelves to store towels or personal care items. Glass cabinets are also viable, but only if placed sufficiently remote from the water sources.
- In the kitchen, the cabinets’ doors could be made out of colored and translucent glass, leaving the pots, pans and dishes a little visible. For easier maintenance, you need to make sure that your ventilation system is working perfectly, not allowing vapors and grease to deposit on them.
