When it comes to teens and decorating a teen room, there are multiple aspects to be taken into account, but the most important thing is choosing the furniture style and coordinating accessories that fit the teenager’s personality. This is the place where the teen will seek his much desired privacy, where he might spend time with his friends or do anything else that gives him pleasure or enriches his life.
You must not overlook the organizational method either, since the room mustn’t lack functionality. This is, after all, a space that your teenage son or daughter will use a lot, therefore the room will have multiple functions: (home)work room, bedroom, a place for socializing etc. So, when decorating such a room, make sure you incorporate all the necessary items, like a desk, a comfortable chair, a bed (and a sofa if the space allows it), a dressing and some storage units (shelves, cabinets etc.). You can also throw in some bean bags, a TV, a video game or anything your teenager find joy in.

The personality of a teenager is in full formation and transformation, so you should expect their taste to change quite often and a lot. If you have a limited budget, you shouldn’t go for something just because it’s cheap, but rather choose high quality furniture that’s easy to maintain and is resistant in time. Don’t make the mistake of choosing something just because it appealed to you aesthetically. You should also consider a modular furniture set that can be easily rearranged and go for bright (but not childish) colors.

Teenagers have really strong personalities and opinions towards, well, everything, so make sure you respect his wishes and desires (if they are reasonable). Let him choose all the accessories he wants, the colors, flooring and so on. You can provide advice, but ultimately, he’s the judge.
